Addison Breier is an experienced music teacher and Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC).
Addison has been involved with music for most of her life. Starting in dance at the age of two and piano lessons at five, Addison has continued to explore the world of music as she has learned various instruments including guitar, violin, viola, ukulele, voice and basic percussion. Addison has played with many ensembles including the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon and the Siskyou Violins. She received the opportunity to compete in Carnegie Hall while with the Siskyou Violins where they received a perfect score and a gold award.
When she was young, Addison found her passion in working with individuals who have disabilities. This led her to pursue a career in Music Therapy. “Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program” (American Music Therapy Association). Addison received her BA in Music Therapy from Seattle Pacific University with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. She completed her 1200 hour internship at Denver Children’s Home and is now board certified. Addison has clinical experience in children and adults with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, adolescent mental health, geriatrics and memory care.
Addison began teaching private music lessons for piano and violin ten years ago. She has expanded this skill set to include lessons in guitar, ukulele, viola and voice. While Addison is not working as a Music Therapist through this platform, her qualification as an MT-BC provides Addison the knowledge and clinical skills required to provide adapted lessons to those who need/prefer it. Her love for music has spurred a passion for making music accessible to those whom it often is not and to share how music can help individuals reach their life goals. Music has brought joy and light to Addison’s life and she looks forward to showing you how it can do the same for yours!
