I’m a guitarist and composer who has spent a lot of time learning all I can about several different genres, styles, and approaches to guitar. I began as most, as a rock enthusiast, but have studied classical, jazz, and popular guitar technique and theory. As a guitarist I’ve played in rock groups, pop-country, jazz ensembles, contemporary classical, and common practice classical, but have also played percussion in a West African Drum and Dance Ensemble, a gamelan ensemble, and a latin-jazz group. I also frequently accompany modern and ballet dance technique classes, improvising accompaniment for hour-long classes on guitar and other instruments. I write and perform my own music in both classical ensembles and jazz combos, and would be happy to discuss approaches to writing music in addition to guitar. I also hold a Masters Degree in Music Theory and Composition from New York University, and a Bachelors in Music Composition from the University of North Texas. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, I’d love to help you find ways to open and improve your playing using diverse approaches to music-making.
