Hey there! My name is Jake and I’d love to work with you on your new or ongoing musical journey. My musical life has taken me around the world and allowed me to explore many different styles of music and venues to make music in. I’ve done solo tours as a singer-songwriter, conducted workshops both in the US and Europe in the areas of songwriting, improvisation, and interdisciplinary work between musicians and dancers/actors, and composed and performed countless original scores for the theatre. I am both self-taught and formally trained, having studied with private guitar instructors in my younger days and am a current MFA student in Composition at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. This mixed background has helped me learn music and learn HOW TO learn music from both a formal and more personally constructed pedagogy. We can go over all the basics of the guitar and electric bass, get rock solid on our fretboard theory and fundamentals of how music is constructed but I also specialize in working from a more holistic place. I will work with YOU and find what we need to do to develop your voice rather than just learn what others may feel you “need” to know in order to be a “real” musician. If this sounds like the right fit for you, let’s Zoom together and see where the music takes us!
