John naturally fell into playing music after receiving his first guitar at age 10 and has been teaching since he was 16. Beginning by playing classic rock/punk/metal/hardcore & venturing into various sub-genres catered to these styles throughout his teenage years when he started writing & recording his own songs & playing in various bands in the Tri State area. Being completely self taught up until deciding to pursue his studies further moving to Boston, MA to attend Berklee College of Music, his playing evolved into playing more Contemporary/Fusion/Jazz/Latin/Progressive Rock styles in ensembles and studied privately w/ John Baboian, Jon Finn, Dave Fiuzcynski, Dave Gilmore, Mick Goodrick, Don Lappin, Tim Miller, Norm Zocher.

At the end of his time upon graduating Berklee, John joined Asbury Park based Progressive Metal band Toothgrinder (Spinefarm Records/Universal Music Group) in wake of the touring cycle in support of the band’s Major Label LP debut “Nocturnal Masquerade” in Fall 2015/2016. The album was received with worldwide critical acclaim and even even landed the act a nomination at the 2016 Revolver Magazine Music Awards for “Best New Artist.” Along with touring with some personal favorite acts such as Killswitch Engage, The Faceless, After the Burial, Periphery, SikTh and CHON, he made his first publishing remark on the complete guitar transcription of the debut album through “Sheethappens Publishing” owned and operated by guitarists Luke Hoskin & Tim Millar of JUNO award winning act Protest The Hero (CA).

John’s debut recording with Toothgrinder, 2017’ sophomore release “Phantom Amour”, landed its first week at #76 on the Billboard Top 200 current albums and brought the band to Sirius XM radio and to play it’s first ever major radio festival circuits alongside Tool, Ozzy Osborne, Stone Temple Pilots, Stone Sour, Godsmack, The Used and tours w/ Between The Buried & Me, The Contortionist, 2018 Grammy nominees Meshuggah & Code Orange, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium & All That Remains. The band’s 3rd LP “I AM” was released October 11th, 2019
